What’s your role at Barkers?
I’m the Store Manager at the Auckland Flagship store; Barkers {No.1 High St}.

What do you do with your weekends?
Working in retail, my weekends are Sunday and Monday. Sunday is spent with my wife Rehia and the kids (we have two; Maia and Devon) out visiting friends and family, or just spending time at home as a family watching movies.

What’s your go-to work attire?
Coloured chinos; the green and red colour ways have been my go to options for a few weeks now, a blue button down shirt and a blazer; the new Meredith Check Blazer will be getting a fair amount of wear from me this season.

Whose style do you admire?
English model David Gandy, the man has incredible sartorial style and has been credited with bringing a more masculine look back to the modelling and fashion industry.

What wardrobe item would you struggle to live without?
My black on black Movado "Bold" watch, it’s simple and sophisticated, and I almost feel naked without it.

What trend will you be exhausting this winter?
Full three piece suits and formally styled blazers. I can’t wait for the weather to cool down so I can start wearing them more often.

Best accessory to any outfit?
A good watch can add a sense of personal style to any outfit.

What was your last purchase?
I've just purchased our three piece Charcoal Check suit and the brown double monk strap shoes. It looks great with a tie for a more formal look or alternatively with a button down shirt and a merino crew for a more relaxed style.

If you weren’t in the retail industry where would you be?
I would love to own a cool little wine bar with a relaxed feel to it, that way I can play all the music I like and get to know about great wine.

How did you get your start in the retail industry, and where has it taken you?
I first started in the industry after finishing my 6th form year at school (I think the kids call that year 12 now). Since then I have had the opportunity of working for some of the worlds premier luxury menswear labels that are available here in New Zealand. The likes of Brioni, Zegna and Armani to name a few.

What’s your biggest career achievement to date?
Taking the store manager role here at Barkers {No.1 High St}.

Favourite place in Auckland to go for coffee?
That’s easy, Barkers Burrs & Grind; our in store coffee bar. Max stocks Auckland’s best coffee brand - Eighthirty Coffee. I can’t start my day without it.

Favourite place in Auckland to go for dinner?
Ostro, the food is amazing and the service is excellent. I also love the fact that it has a great bar and indoor outdoor setup.

Favourite gig venue in NZ?
I’ve got to go big and say Vector Arena, so far I've see some great shows there and I'm looking forward to many more.

Top tip for the NZ man?
Don't be afraid to use accessories like pocket squares, tie bars, scarves, or the odd understated piece of jewelry for a finishing touch.

When the sun’s out where would we find you?
In my garden, or with friends and family on the deck having a beer and a BBQ.

Where do you splurge and where do you scrimp?
I splurge on a great pair of shoes or suit, buy quality and look after it, and it’ll last you years.
Scrimp on clothes for the gym.

The last song you listened to?
Power - Kanye West. Love him or hate him My Dark Twisted Fantasy was a fantastic album.

Greatest weakness?
The chocolate two for one deals at the petrol station, they get me every time.

Lastly, if you could have a whisky with anyone, who would it be and why?
Albert Einstein, for his genius, his view on life and his quirky sense of humour.
