WEDDING SUIT PACKAGES

We understand how much work goes into the planning of a wedding, so let our personalised planning services take care of the groom and his men in the build up to the big day. We offer a range of customised services and advice on how to make you look your best on your wedding day. For less stress, allow 4-5 weeks preparation time before the big day.

ONE ON ONE CONSULTATION SERVICE

Available both during and after business hours, our consultation service ensures that every aspect of the groom’s wear is thought out and planned. Our formal wear advisors will discuss with you, in detail, everything from viewing our entire range for an initial ideas consultation to our wedding package prices and more.

AFTER HOURS FITTING SERVICE – WHY NOT MAKE AN OCCASION OUT OF IT?

By offering after hours access to our stores and formal wear advisors, we can ensure there aren’t any interruptions to the groomsmen’s schedules while offering a relaxed environment, where the guys can get fitted together over a beer, without the pressure of an open store.

MULTIPLE LOCATIONS

It is more than likely that some of the groomsmen will be travelling from far and wide for the big day. With 23 locations nationwide we can offer a local fitting service for everyone, and when provided with measurements, prepare sizes for those travelling from overseas.

GROOMING SERVICE

For a slick haircut and shave to match your suit, we offer full grooming services at the Barkers Groom Room in our Wellington, High Street, Palmerston North and Dunedin stores. Like the fitting, you and your groomsmen can book a group appointment together and enjoy a complimentary beer or whisky during your styling session. Remember to make sure to allow at least a week between your cut and the wedding day to allow the natural resting state of your hair to return. We offer packages for our common cut styles so you can get the wedding party all looking their best together.

  • Groom Room Groom’s package deal – Executive cut 1x $45, 2x $80, $30 each additional

Unless the invite explicitly states casual or ‘smart casual’, leave the jeans at home. A lot of kiwi guys think they can get away with wearing jeans to a wedding as long as they have a shirt and dress shoes, but we would definitely advise against this. At the bare minimum go with a dress pant, dress shirt and dress shoe. Grey is a good choice for the dress pant, as black has the potential to encroach on the groom if he is in a tux. A dress shirt is usually very simple – no button up sleeves for example. Be sure to match your belt colour with your shoe colour.
A summer wedding often has a slightly more informal feel to it, particularly if it is during the day. Opt for a navy or light grey suit pant/suit, and pair it with a pastel shirt and brown brogues. A grey pant could be paired with a navy blazer and a white or pastel shirt. We would advise brown shoes/belt over black to avoid feeling overdressed in 26 degree temperatures. Short sleeve shirts should be left for the BBQ the next day.
This is totally up to you – these days’ groomsmen are dressed in anything from tuxedos to dress pants and shirts. However, we would recommend that as the groom you always make your look slightly more formal than that of your groomsmen. If you are wearing a black suit, try putting them in charcoal. If you’re all in charcoal – you could be the only one wearing a tie or a pocket scarf for example. We would recommend you opt for matching shoe colours across the board.
As the groom, you may have minimal input into what you’re wearing. However, if you do get a say, our advice would be “It’s all the details”. Make your outfit that extra bit special by adding a tie pin, pocket scarf or cufflinks. Be sure to match your belt to your shoes, which incidentally should be in mint condition.
