One of our key tailoring partners, this manufacturer is located in China’s Jiangsu Province. They first opened their doors in 1958 and they’ve been perfecting tailored suits ever since. We began working with them back in 2012 - and we couldn’t be happier! Our relationship is so strong that we have an exclusive supply agreement for the New Zealand market.

Jitai have adopted the best of Italian garment production technology. We work closely with their team to design and craft our tailored suits, blazers and overcoats.

Our working relationship with this manufacturer goes two ways - we collaborate on every design we come up with. And the suits, well they couldn’t be better. The team there have been crafting high quality suits for decades and use the latest technology to do so - their advanced equipment and test instruments are imported from Italy, Germany, Japan and Switzerland. Not only are they experts at garment making, they also have their own mill and specialise in worsted spinning, weaving and dyeing of woolen textiles - they know suits inside out! They are a member of China Wool Textile Association and have the license for both pure new wool and wool-blend Woolmark from International Woolmark Company.

Aside from the fact that they make exceptionally high-quality suiting, we were also impressed by the standard of their factories and the facilities they provide for their staff - these things matter to us as much as the suits themselves. Knowing that they operate under strict ethical and environmental standards (including ISO accreditations for Quality, Environmental, and Health & Safety Management Systems) aligns them with our own philosophies and sourcing policies.

They also use strict management systems and are Child Labor Free accredited for manufacturing. They recently passed a further independent audit commissioned by Barkers under the Child Labor Free audit system. They are certified under the ISO Management Systems for 9001 Management Systems, 14001 Environmental Management Systems, 18001 Health & Safety Management Systems and BSCI.

All of their factory workers are paid well above both the minimum and living wage for the region. They also receive free accommodation and meals, and workers are unionised. They also have a waste water usage plan, use recycled water, and carry out their own water treatment to the strictest government standards.
